AN EXPERIENCE TO REMEMBER- AUTO EXPO 2010

Image
I was staying at home, in Delhi, during January 2010, when the Auto Expo, the so-called Mecca of automotive exhibitions, happened at Pragati Maidan. Being the enthusiast that I am, this was an event surely not to be missed. It also so happened, that one of my old friends from school decided to visit home, after being in the US for a couple of years. I landed up there, on the pretext of being able to collect passes from a friend's friend. After talking to them on phone, trying to figure out their whereabouts, given the vastness of the arena, we got to the entry line. Everyone was supposed to be carrying visiting cards. The smart ones amongst them were using fictitious visiting cards, and advised us to do the same. My friend also got the hint, as he remembered having been in the same situation previously. Some like to drive. Others like to cruise. This refers to the category of persons that belong to the former. You know you’re being driven by Petrosexuality when- You agree to go on a long drive with your wife or girlfriend, with the primary objective of being behind the wheel. You are driving down to your workplace which is 45 minutes away, inspite of a Metro station having been built just 50 metres away from your house. You segregate your music CDs, based on the music that you listen in your car, versus the music that you would like to listen at home. Rarely shall the two overlap. The first word that came out (correctly!) from your mouth, as a child, was not Ma, or Papa, but “Car.” When coming back from school, you would detest going back in the family car, for the love of being in the school bus, with all your friends, sometimes also conscious that the bus has a stereo but your car doesn’t!!! You still wish you could sit in a remote corner and still play with some of the “dinky”
