2013 Skoda Octavia- setting a true benchmark in design

Image
Skoda Auto India Limited has officially launched the new 2013 Octavia in New Delhi on 3rd October. Viewed from any angle, it is clear that the new car comes with a radical makeover as compared to the earlier version that was discontinued. Apart from the overall design, it is also much longer and wider due to the new MQB platform. Skoda Octavia front Starting from front, the 2013 Skoda Octavia looks really mean and aggressive with the grille and trapezoid headlamps. Washers are installed in front of the headlamps to prevent dirt and muck from accumulating, especially during the rains. The new logo of the company has strategically been placed on the bonnet, making it easily visible from all directions. Turn indicators are installed on the electrically adjustable rear view mirrors, lending a touch of class. A sharp tornado line can be seen running across the sides of the vehicle, giving it a coupe-like silhouette. Rear lamps indicating a whilte lamp with large red reflectors al

Does Stingray have the Sting in it?

Maruti has removed the name WagonR while bringing out its new vehicle christened as the Sting ray, on 21st August 2013. This Maruti car which was historically famous for being a convenient transporter and a fuel efficient tallboy has now been given a lifestyle moniker, in the form of Sting ray. Take a look at the picture below yourself and get an idea of what I am talking about here. The setting for this launch event was made at an interesting lounge created in the Maruti Brand Centre in New Delhi. Amidst an afternoon of mocktails, gorgeous models, a beautiful hostess (Archana who hosted shows on Neo Cricket) and great music by a local band, the new Sting ray was launched. It was the first time that I had been treated to a launch in such an innovative way, I must comment here. Getting to the car.. Well, there is no change to the heart of this vehicle. It still gets the 68 ps petrol engine that fits perfectly well in the current WagonR, generating a torque of 90Nm.

How Honda has Amazed the compact sedan segment

Image
Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Japanese manufacturer Honda Motor Company. It has many different models in India, one of which has been launched recently in April. This is the Honda Amaze, the first compact sedan to ever be launched by the company. Many class-leading features have been incorporated into this vehicle to take on growing competition in the compact sedan segment, especially from Maruti Swift DZire.     Styling and interiors From front, the Amaze looks exactly like the Brio, except that the front grille is slightly different. However, it is the side profile and the rear of this car that have been completely changed. Smooth and muscular lines can be seen from the wheel arches to the boot. Fit and finish are also of good quality on the inside. Dual tone beige and black colours can be seen throughout the interiors. Due to its long wheelbase, legroom and headroom are liberal. In addition, there is tilt steering which can be adju

Racing down the fast lane in Greater Noida

Volkswagen (VW) India is involved in a lot of action at present. On April 29 , the German company showcased a brand new avatar of its popular hatchback, the Polo, reputed to be the VW Polo 1.2 GT TSI. This is controlled by a 1.2 litre motor, which creates a power of 104 bhp. The company additionally marks its presence through Motorsports each year, in form of  the VW Polo Cup. A 1.4 litre TSI supercharged petrol motor is fitted in the Race vehicle, which produces a breathtaking power yield of 180 bhp and a torque of 250 Nm. I bounced up with rapture in the wake of getting a chance to drive this monstrous hatch on the Buddh International Circuit (BIC), Greater Noida.  Nothing that I have caught so far can match up to the thunder that these vehicles generate upon revving. A 7-Speed DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox) was utilized to power this vehicle. In comparison to the current petrol  version, the past 1.6 TDI diesel hustler from Polo utilized Manual Transmission. DSG is a great deal m
